California Girls: We're Unforgettable.

So, Sara mentioned the blog to me just now, and it made me so happy, I've decided to post an update. Things have been great this summer, albeit long. I was able to have two of the greatest SPEDS sleep over my house this month, but more of that later. I got home from Hawai'i and I don't know about anyone else, but it felt too soon. I was on the ride home from the airport before I came to terms that I was actually in California. I wouldn't go so far as to say it felt like a dream, but moreso as if someone were playing a cruel joke on me. But then I realized. I wasn't going to Hawai'i for another 3+ months. Fuu-.

Well, immediately my sister started showing me what she'd been doing with her life. Which was simple: Totally obsess over Korean/Japanese/But-mostly-Korean pop stars and therefore watch endless amounts of music videos and dramas. That wasn't going to fly with me. Asians? Really? I mean, I always have had a soft spot for anime and that sort of thing, but there was no way I was getting into Koreans. I liked Japanese. [Reference to Lane -HERE- for no reason... ¬_¬] But I was force fed the music. And I have to say, I am now in LOVE with Korean guys. I'll have to convert all of you non-believers when we get back to Hawai'i. Although for some reason, I feel Kelsey will never convert. I don't know why. Haha. So I've been learning the dance routines, going to K-Pop concerts, and drooling over sitcoms. Call me crazy, but I can't wait to join Korean club when I get back on campus. In case you're all wondering, my favorite boy in SuJu (Super Junior, a Korean boy group) is the blondie toward the right. His name is Heechul, and is MINE. o___o;

Hanging out with friends from Cali has been really great. (That's my friend Nic and I hiking to the top of rock pile aka. mountain. He's always seen my as his little sister. He's a friend of my brother's.)  I mean, at least I have friends in the same state. Thank goodness my Mom didn't do something crazy like move while I was still at school so I didn't have any friends except a couple that I met in Hawai'i... that would be horrible. But anyway, I've gone hiking, played Risk, ate crepes, ventured City Walk, and other miscellaneous things. The horrible thing about my memory is that I can't remember details, but I know my summer wasn't as boring as it could have been. I usually had two or three things to do every week, and I'd love to report them all but sadly I'm too stubborn to keep a journal. Ah well. It's a hopeless cause. I won't remember my life, but at least I'll have a distant smile on my psychotic face when the nurses try and move me from a bench to my room in a Home for the Elderly. But of course, no one can compare to the latest and greatest Hawai'i edition to my buddy list.

So, if you're still reading this novel, you'll be happy to know that I was lucky enough to hang out with a chunk of our gang this summer. The first to flit my way was Arielle. She was kind enough to drive 2+ hours to see me and sleep over. She's done it more than once. What better way to repay her than to mention her in this awesome post? (Besides you know, actually repaying her, but you all know I wouldn't do that...) She was as creepy and as hilarious as ever. She was happy to meet and attempt to steal my friend Sasha as we enjoyed a dinner conversation with her over In&Out. For those outside California boundaries, it's a delicious fast food place that you'll most likely never have the pleasure of eating. >:)

Meanwhile, GamBam —some of you know her as Lane— and I have been skyping profusely. I don't even think Sara and John skype as much as we do. Actually I know that for a fact because I have them both on my Skype contact list and they're not on as much as we are. I've come to know her sister Alpha  Alta very well, and we've actually bonded over mutual interest [See Spongebob Squarepants for more details.]

She finally was able to fly over to spend a couple of days with her wife, and then a couple of days with the Main Event (M.E. for short) She seemed to like my cat more than I did, as well as my mom. Needless to say, her and Kathy (my mom) have become Facebook friends. Hopefully she'll be able to fly over again before the summer is finished. Not sure if I should post that last because I actually haven't talked to her about it. Eheh. But anyway, she was able to go to City Walk with me, even if the bus ride was longer than our explorations. That's okay, at least we listened to music on our way there and back. xD

Oh and by the way, Arielle and I have been working on our shuffling (For those of you who know what I'm actually talking about, you'll be happy to see how much we've improved from our former days. TT^TT I'm glad that those days are over.)

I feel bad because I had no idea how much space I was taking up. SORRY ARIELLE! If I'd known, I think I would have moved over. Which I did sometimes... but then I went right back over to you. Sorry...sorry...sorry...

By the way, no harassing me about the multi-colored socks. You use what you got, and what I got is a sock monster in my room that likes to leave my socks partnerless. Plus, I think it gives the shuffling more of an added effect. My feet are moving so fast, I made it easier for you to keep up by distinguishing between them... Okay, lame excuse but whatever. Why are you still reading this?

The most recent news is as follows:

+ My sister is going on her mission to Kobe, Japan.
+ Sara Bezdjian visited Cali so BrandO and I spent the day with her / her aunt.

But first. It's pretty big news that my sister is leaving. We had her farewell, which was great. Of course, I was forced to dance and therefore forced to sweat like a pig in front of all our closest friends and church goers. Pretty sight. I made her a farewell video which I might post on YouTube for fun; I can tell you're all very interested so stay tuned. I'm excited for her, so much so that I've been writing missionary letters to all of our departed friends. Not uh... dead, just the ones that are closer to God now... I mean... uh, sacrilegious card? I'm rambling, don't be offended or concerned. Just move on.

So anyway. Sara Bezdjian visited California. And yet it wasn't until the day of her departing flight that we finally managed to meet up. We met up at the Americana which is RIGHT NEXT TO the Glendale Galleria. That doesn't make sense to anyone but Sara, so hopefully she'll have a laugh. (Or should I say inside chuckle because really, who laughs at the computer anymore?) I had my friend Nic, pictured above, drive me even though he was on crutches and therefore had to drive with his left foot. Yes, I'm a risk taker. But we managed to get there safely. I met up with Brandon first as he was my ride home, and then we walked around a bit waiting for Sara. We scared the crap outta her for fun, and then preceded to "catch up". We had the largest cookie and burgers we've ever had, and surprisingly, Brandon took home the first place prize of eating the most. Go figure. Life is so unpredictable.

Well, that pretty much sums me up so far. I might have left a few things out, but I doubt it'll matter. I mean, the chances of 208 babies actually checking this site anymore compared to the chances of them reading this entire entry compared to the chances of them actually being interested in my summer and therefore begging for more details... well, you get the idea. I suppose this is for my own amusement so that my brain doesn't suddenly stop functioning for lack of use. I feel like I had much more to say, but what I'd love more than to hear myself talk (har har.) is to hear how all of your summers have been! I haven't talked to many of you in too long of a while, so please, UPDATE. UPDATE. UPDATE!

I miss you all, and I can't wait to see you all in September. I realized how much I missed Hawai'i when I started consistently Google Map-ing campus just to imagine being there. But I think Gams says it best when she wrote on Facebook via IM: 

Yes. I'm a creep. But you all love me. ;) 

So this screen popped up one day when I randomly decided to check the blog. I don't even know if this post is going to end up on the blog. That is how technologically challenged I am (as keala would know). And that would suck if it ended up on some random blog that I don't even know about. Oh well.

I've been home a day and a half now, and it's been really nice. Really hot- which is weird cause I'm in Canada which I was expecting to be cold. I've had ice cream every day since I've been home because I think my family went on a health spree and all the food we have is really healthy except the ice cream.

Church is SO weird because I expect everyone to get up and say "brothers and sister ALOHA" - and no one does. And I had to give a talk and wanted to say it until I realized no one would say Aloha back - and let's just say that would be really awkward.

And...umm....I miss you all! I wish everyone was coming back first term like me - because that would be pretty awesome! And I love that I am on this blog even though I didn't live in the 208 hallway!

And Lane...I am jealous that you get to go to Japan...take me with you :)

SIDENOTE

Dearest Speds.

So this is my first post even though Keala has been breathing down my neck since day one when she created this blog. haha I finally got around to it though. Being away from Hawai'i made me miss it and all of my 208 babies that much more.

So Spring Term...

I don't know where to begin. When you guys left us all, me and Keala were so sad! It was even harder to watch all these fobs fill in the spaces that was once occupied by all of you guys. Even though it was rough in the beginning, the term ended up being a great one. As expected, Keala Jerel and I did hang out together quite a bit and it was so fun. Keala came up with a nickname for the three of us "the tricycle." haha

In Utah.

I've been in Utah for nearly a week now. It still feels weird to be here. Since I wasn't living here before it really doesn't feel like home. And it sucks that I don't know my way around the place. And I've had such a hard time falling asleep here at night every night since I've been back. I guess it's a whole lot different from Hawai'i when I'd wake up early in the morning and stay out till early morning. I'd come back to my dorm and just pass out. ahhh I miss those days. I know everybody says this when they return to the mainland but I really do miss Hawai'i and I can NOT wait until fall semester so we can all go back. Ok but Utah hasn't been all bad. The two Saras are here. I hung out with Bezdjian and Dj a couple nights ago. It was kind of weird to be in Sara's house and meet her mom and stuff. The picture is of us at Saras house. I havn't been able to hang with Gummow yet but I'm sure I will very soon.

BEE TEE DUBS...

I'm actually leaving for Japan with my little sister and my Mom (whose name Keala will never know) this Saturday. I'll be gone for 2 weeks. I'm really excited to see my grandparents over there. And hey maybe i'll bump into Keala's brother whose serving a mission over there and....well who knows what will happen ;)

WELL!

I'm back home now! Me and Gamms had a fun time... but now its back to California! And I'm having a splendid horrible time. I have so much nothing to do. This summer is going to be so fun long. Good news: Arielle and John live close by, so hopefully I'll be seeing them soon. I've kept busy though. Let's see...

On Thursday, I got home. And went to sleep.

Friday, I watched Princess and the Frog, and had a friend sleepover.

Saturday, hung out with said friend, then watched StarTrek. I have a feeling this is going to be a movie summer.

Sunday, went to church, saw my best friend Alex and caught up with him. Then went again to Single's Ward which had about 12 people altogether including the leaders. It was fast and testimony sunday so... that was awkward. Then I went home and watched Alice in Wonderland and Devil Wears Prada.

On Monday, I had some friends over and then I went to FHE. That was great dreadful because there was this guy there that was hitting on me. All. Night. Long. He's a great guy loser with a crooked eye, and a short body. Not to mention his personality is the equivalent of scum.

But that was okay, because on Tuesday, I went to my friend Alison's Creative Writing Show and it was really enlightening A bunch of whiners pretending to know about the world. Actually, my friend was one of the most talented ones there and no, I'm not biased! She sang and played guitar, then piano, then did the accompanying harmony to another singer whilst playing a stand up bass. So I was very proud of her.

At the show, it was seriously. Okay. Think of all the awkward relationships you had in high school. You know, all the ones that you would say, "Whew. Hope I never see THEM again..." NOW THINK OF THAT ALL IN ONE ROOM. I seriously was wiped out by the time it was finished because of the awkwardness. Lindsey and I looked at each other when we left and just said, "That was WAY too much awkwardness for one day." Then we had In&Out afterward! ^_^

Yesterday, before the show, I also went job hunting at the Mall, and I'm a little early in the hunt, so I don't think I'll have a problem finding one. I've already turned in a couple of applications, and I'm going to work on some today. So that's one aspect of my life that is looking bright and promising: enslavement to a shopping mall for the course of three miserable months as I dote on strangers for minimal pay.

And it is now WEDNESDAY. I want to go HOME. I'm finished with California. But thanks, Cali, so much for trying! Please take me back to Hawai'i now. I haven't even been here a week. Haha, that's pathetic because I need to be here for three months. Ah well. That's my update. If you guys keep updated with my YouTube, you'll see endless movies about to spring forth as I have nothing better to do with my time.

HEY EVERYONE!!!! So I have decided to post on here, although I don't have time for the awesome post that I know all of us expect from the great Allison Huff (that's for you sara) and so I will just quickly say one thing and then write a good one later. So I just found Keala's video of Winter Semester for the first time, and it was effing cute!!! But in the middle of the video there is this one part when I am walking with Arielle and Kelsey and I look over at Kelsey and make this weird face with my lips sticking out, and I look just like Jafar from Aladin!!!!! My lips are huge!!! I will talk to you all soon!! Slurps all around!

fall housing!

has anybody been looking for housing for fall? today i ooked on the school site and casa da chikas is what i am leaning towards. its a bit cheaper than the rest and it has lots of openings. i think im the only one who never went to Erin's house, but i heard she didnt like the studio so i was looking at the normal housing part of it. there are ten openings which sounded good... if you have been looking please let me know or let me know what you think!

My Life in Italia!

Oh my gosh.

Where to begin?

I guess I'll just start with the fact that I LOVE it here!!! It's amazing and different and beautiful.

But I'm getting ahead of myself.

Basically I'm living in the downtown center of Pisa, in the middle of the ancient part of the city. The old walls from the middle ages still surround this part but Pisa is bigger now so the rest of it goes beyond the old walls now.

But that's boring.

Let me get to the fun stuff.

First of all, THE FOOD.

Omg. It's amazing. All. The. Time.

I had my first gelatto (ice cream) today and it was soooo delicious!

It's a lot softer than American ice cream so I thought it was going to be gross and melty but it wasn't! It's absolutely amazing and really flavorful.

And the fact that I ate it while walking down the narrow streets of Italy and looking at the river made it even better.

Next, THE PLACES.

I went to the Leaning Tower last week and it was really cool. It's only about a 5 min walk from Bianca's house to the Tower and the other famous buildings over there. The place is jam-packed with tourists all the time (even if it's pouring rain) but it's fun to sit on the grass and have a little picnic or even people watch at the place where most people take pictures. (The Asians are the best hahaha they always do weird things in their pictures! lol)

Anyway, I will write more later because I have to go but I love you all! I miss our times in 208. The family I'm with is probably tired of hearing about you guys because I talk about you all the time! Haha but I don't care.

B- since i have been back i have been to the indian reservation casino to watch all my friends lose their money, i have listened to my best friend endure many phone calls about her upcoming divorce and custody battle, i was designated driver to like 5 wasted people who insisited that they saw pics on facebook of me partying at college ( aparently there is a rumor around town that i drink now) i assured them that my friends just look drunk because you are all retards in our pics.
C- My mom dragged me to the local grocery store own by my one and only grandfather to start work as a cashier (cute), and as i filled out the unnecessary application (i already have the job) i answered "reason why you applied" with "because my Dad , Randy, YOUR BOSS, made me" and i answered "List relatives working under same company" with "ALL OF THEM WORK HERE: grandpa, father, sister, other sister, 2 aunts, 2 uncles, 3 cousins..." it was the most ridiculous thing ever.
D- the first thing my mom asked was "did you lose weight? then i took off my sweatshirt and she goes "oh nevermind, you looked smaller with it on.."
E- Im debating over a NO-BOYS summer.. this could go one of two ways.
1.) No drama, no hurt feelings (on his behalf, i dont have feelings) and i can just focus on my friends.
2.) When i get back to Hawaii i go crazy from lack of boys and i make poor decisions in desperation (where i dont follow allisons thumbs up/thumbs down advise)
F- It rains everyday, and i feel like my mood corresponds perfectly.
I MISS EVERYONE AND I HATE THAT FACT THAT MY MOM STOPPED COOKING SO MY FOOD HASNT GOTTEN ANY BETTER.

So far over break, this is the most exciting thing that I have done. Every day I work more on the job search. I interview probably every other day, and I have filled out roughly a floppity-jillion applications. I am hoping that one will work out soon. I have also been to see the Musical that my high school is putting on now, with some of my friends, but they have all gone back to school and wont be done for about two more weeks. So I've been really bored, and have lots of time to miss all of you!!! LOVE YOU ALL!!!!

P.S. This is sad that only Keala, Aneka and I have written on here! get on it ya'll!! :)

it's not paradise, it's sheer torture!

With the dust of the furniture settling in, Lane and I gazed at the newly furbished room. We had set everything up for her quick transition, even sneakily added another nightstand near the door. That way, we could fan out magazines to our visitors' liking aside a ceramic bowl that would hold all of our loose change and cellphones. All that was needed was her belongings, but for now, temporary bedding would suffice. We rejoiced in the completion of our cleaning day, and looked towards our new future as roommates. Lane and I tucked ourselves in with a nice movie, UP!, and fell asleep side by side. Then, the morning after ruined everything.

We should have foreseen it was too good to be true. Several forgotten alarms woke us up abruptly, and Lane finally pushed herself out of bed to have breakfast with Jerel. I lay in bed, irritated by the half asleep walk I just attempted to turn off my cellphone, which was now on the other side of the room, in our bowl. I collapsed in my bed once more, and thought that an hour of laying in bed, too lazy to get up but not tired in enough to fall asleep, would be just what I needed. That's when my room was invaded by monsters.

One of these monsters was the roommate Kylie forgot to tell me about, when earlier, Lane and I specifically asked her if it was okay for Lane to transfer to my room. "Oh, it'll be no problem," she told us, "you don't have a  roommate scheduled for your room!" This remark was shortly followed by the side note of, "...So here's the thing, my curry is cold. Want to go heat it up?" Lane and I turned to each other, shrugged and did the deed, too excited about the good news to care how out of the way it was. It was with Kylie that my roommate now stood, imposing on our potential term; our sparkling future of laughter, late nights, and best friends; our ROOM!

"Here's your new roommate!" Kylie cheerfully gestured toward this invader. The new tenant's mother stood just behind her, a support that she would need to get though my vivid glares. 'No,' I decided, 'I won't be mean just yet.' Although some of my stuff was on her side. Lane and I had not planned for this. I had to remove the temporary bedding, a small box of belongings from the closet, a calculator from the desk. "Keala! Love you to death but..." Kylie's eyes widened in an expression that clearly meant why-is-all-your-shiz-on-her-side?!

"I'm SO sorry, I didn't know I was going to have a new roommate, and I was cleaning-" I sputtered. My roommate's mom quickly came to my aid.

"Oh that's okay sweetie. You just lost a best friend [my other roommate she assumed], I would have done the same thing!" Her comment was meant to be kind, but all I could think was, 'Get your filthy hand off my shoulder you monster! You gave birth to this... this... intruder, so don't you dare think that any of this is okay!!!' I was furious. I hid it well, apologizing over and over for my inconvenience, and quickly mended my mistake by taking everything off her side. The hale mom came in to check on my progress, and quickly insisted I put the extra nightstand in its proper room.

I broke the news to Lane. She wasn't happy either. Needless to say, we threw a couple of chairs.

The entire situation is still very infuriating, but somehow we'll manage. Our room is infested with everything that is bad in this world, not to mention the worst part.

The rest of the hallway is being entirely occupied by FOBs.

Eff my life. 

On Campus. Alone.

Well, not so much I suppose. My roommate moved out this morning (Gonna miss our heartfelt conversations) so Kelsey and Amber moved all their luggage to that side for the time being! haha. Apparently, I wasn't going to have a new roommate, so ROOM ALL TO MYSELF! But you all know that I don't do well all by myself, so I'm getting a new roommate. I'm nervous, what if we don't get along? Her name is ...Lane Gammell. *slow creepy Arielle smile* Yes, Lane and I will be roommates for Spring Semester! Talk about one pimped out room!


Sara Gummow's flight doesn't leave until Tuesday, so we're going to town to spend the day with her. Going to Bonolulu! Long bus ride, but that's okay, we'll see shortie one more time. Which means, lots of pictures will be posted on the blog! Speaking of pictures... Allison. T___________T; haha, just kidding, but I'm so excited for those pictures! I can't wait!
